- World-class sourcing technologies and processes to enable them to purchase the and track the performance of the benefits solutions they need.
We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable healthcare benefits expert to work with our founding team. This individual will play the crucial role of advising us on industry practices with their expert healthcare benefits viewpoint, ideating solutions to healthcare purchaser and provider problems and guiding the development of our software platform and services.
Job Summary
As the healthcare benefits expert, you will be a vital resource for our SubPop Health, providing valuable insights and expertise to inform the creation, development and enhancement of our software platform and services.
You will collaborate closely with our founding team and key stakeholders to ensure that our platform and services meet the needs of employers and aligns with industry standards and regulations. This role will require a deep understanding of healthcare benefits, insurance plans, self-insured employer dynamics and the business of benefit consultant-advisors.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance: Utilize your extensive knowledge of healthcare benefits and the self-insured employer landscape to advise on the development of our software platform and services, ensuring our solutions align with HR and benefits leader needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with our founding team and other stakeholders including customer design partners to translate industry insights into actionable product requirements and enhancements.
- Conduct market research: Stay up to date with the latest trends, regulations, and innovations in the healthcare benefits industry, with special focus on the impacts of the Consolidated Appropriations Act and share your findings to inform decision-making.
- Act as a subject matter expert: Represent our company as a knowledgeable and trusted authority on healthcare benefits by participating in client meetings, industry conferences, and other relevant events.
- Perform competitive analysis: Assess competing software solutions in the market, identify gaps, and make recommendations for product differentiation and innovation.
- Provide sales and customer support: Assist with prospective customer and design partner conversations serving as SubPop Health’s subject matter expert.
Requirements
- At least 10 years’ experience in the healthcare benefits industry as, for example, a benefits leader of a large, self-insured employer or Taft Hartley plan, held a strategic role within a large health plan, PBM, or TPA, a broker, a consultant or in technology company that served healthcare benefits purchasers, advisors, or carriers.
- Deep understanding of self-insured employer dynamics, insurance plans, regulatory compliance, contracts, and industry trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and client interactions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also functioning effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Preferred Requirements
- Proven track record of advising and guiding the development of software products in the healthcare benefits domain.
- Past client facing responsibilities with leading benefits consulting / brokerage firms such as Aon, Mercer, Willis Towers, Gallagher, Lockton.
