The total annual global healthcare expenditure is over $7 trillion. Of that total, individual consumers pay nearly 18% or $1 trillion annually directly out of pocket. This holds true in both single-payer and commercial insurance countries. Despite this significant economic expenditure, healthcare delivery ecosystems are not yet configured to facilitate the rational-acting role of the consumer as an economic agent. As consumers, we do not know what discrete healthcare services cost or should cost.
Hashed Health is designing a new healthcare payment ecosystem to empower the individual to make rational choices regarding their healthcare.
